🏌️An introduction to Golfing Mindset
Lessons from the Stoics
When it comes to golf, having a strong mindset is key. Just like the Stoic Marcus Aurelius and Cato were strict with themselves, we must be strict with our game. We can’t cheat on our score or let our emotions get the best of us. We have to play with discipline and self-control.

But being strict with ourselves doesn’t mean we have to be harsh with others. Just like Marcus and Cato loved their brothers despite their flaws, we must meet our fellow golfers where they are. If they have a different approach to the game or make mistakes, we should accept and love them anyway. Because ultimately, their game is outside of our control.
Even Gandhi, who was notoriously strict with himself, knew that he couldn’t force his wife to follow his example. Instead, he lovingly prepared tea and coffee for her. In the same way, we can't force others to play the game our way. We can only focus on our own game and offer kindness and support to our fellow players.
So the next time we step onto the golf course, let’s remember to be strict with ourselves but tolerant with others. Let’s focus on our own discipline and not worry about what others are doing. By doing so, we can improve our own game and enjoy the company of our fellow golfers.
